I’m a classically trained artist who has been painting for over 30 years. I’ve done numerous commissions, illustrations for national products and co-authored and illustrated a children's book. Writing was always something I enjoyed doing, but never had the opportunity to pursue seriously until recently. By combining my creative talents with a passion for art and antiquities, I conceived the fictional world of the East London Adventurers Club. My first mystery, “Along Came A Fifer” is the result of these efforts and was published in July 2009 by Asylett Press. Right now I’m busy working on the next mystery in this series- “Rook, Rhyme & Sinker”. |
Influences/Inspirations:
I'm an artist by trade and the urge to write came quite by surprise. I've dabbled in it a bit before but nothing as monumental as writing a mystery novel. Writing, I found, and very much to my surprise, was just painting with words. Your brush would gently stroke indigo blue or vermilion onto a canvas to shadow a face in remorse. The same can be said of the words you brush across a page to project that same face, slowly drawn down into the collar of a borrowed, wool coat that was shiny from wear
Favorite Writers and Artists:
The Jessie Stone series by Robert B. Parker, Barchester Towers by Anthony Trollope and any of the Agatha Christie books.
Current Projects:
Rook, Rhyme & Sinker – second book in the Ernie Bisquets Mystery Series.
The discovery of a hoard of ivory chessmen on the Isle of Lewis in 1831 still commands the attention of scholars and museum patrons in modern-day London, but the police are more concerned with the connection an additional piece has with a body that just bobbed up in the Regents Canal.
